PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAWhen you walk into D’Tandoor Indian Restaurant you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in another country. The interior decoration is traditional with dark wood tables and chairs, colourful silks hanging from the ceiling and posters of Bollywood stars. If you look even closer, many of the walls are also adorned with autographs and compliments from Australian, Indian and Pakistani cricket teams. The interior of the restaurant is delightfully cosy, yet has enough room between tables to ensure privacy. A candlelit garden area to the rear is always a favourite with regulars for dinner.
The Mughlai style of cuisine that D’Tandoor specialises in hails from northern India, where the curries are known for their rich, aromatic flavours. Anyone who leaves this restaurant without trying the butter chicken or sizzling tandoori is committing a serious crime! For an authentic entree, try the starter platter featuring samosa, pakora, Indian-style chicken and shish kebab. If you are making a booking for four or more, the three-course banquet will leave you more than satisfied and equally impressed. Along with a wine list exclusively featuring Western Australian wines, the beers are all Australian with the exception of Cobra - India’s premium lager and a definite must with hot curry. D’Tandoor Indian Restaurants can also be found in Sydney, New Zealand and throughout Malaysia.
