PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIATucked down a little alley off Queen Street, 1907 Bar and Restaurant inhabits a 100 year old building that was once home to a rag trade factory. Having been Perth’s fashion hub over a century ago, this area is now breathing life into it’s historical past with the emergence of unique boutiques and the latest addition, 1907. Designed with a contemporary elegant interior which complements the original structure, 1907 combines high-back upholstered booths, regal red floor rugs and immaculate ceiling cornices and light fittings for absolute opulence. This sort of attention to detail certainly makes for great expectations when it comes to cuisine and service, which 1907 delivers without a flinch.
Chef Graeme Shapiro is well travelled yet his penchant for using fresh local produce has won him many hearts among the Perth foodie scene. Chef Shapiro’s creations are pure class. The entree menu offers just the right amount of dishes to choose from with a distinct lean towards seafood. The Manjimup marron with Port Lincoln mussels in an Asian broth and the seared scallops with wild rocket are two dishes you won’t forget in a hurry. By now, you’ve probably settled into your surroundings at 1907, having studied the many beautiful photos of yesteryear gracing the walls and feeling as though you’ve taken a step back in time. Bringing you back to the here and now, the mains menu is simply amazing. Attention to detail is at the forefront with the likes of a 200 or 500 gram organic Black Angus beef fillet, lobster ravioli delicately sauced with a clove infused brandy cream or the coriander and garlic encrusted lamb rack. There’s no room for disappointment here, just pure and simple elegant indulgence.
