PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAJust a stone’s throw from the beach and only minutes from Hillarys Boat Harbour, it’s easy to see why Voyage Kitchen and Delicatessen draws crowds of regular locals and coffee aficionados. But that’s not all they offer. They also do cooking classes, catering, to-die-for breakfasts, functions, brilliant food and beverages, as well as service with big genuine smiles. The interior is smart and comfortable and the air is clean. Everything is made on premises from stocks and sauces, to cakes, salads and dressings. You can taste the love and passion this creative kitchen team inject into their creations. Driven by the freshest seasonal produce, a day at Voyage starts with a breakfast menu featuring temptations like buttermilk pancakes with fruit and berry compote, and vanilla and honey mascarpone. Those of you after a savoury breakfast will not be disappointed by the original offerings emerging from this kitchen.
If you’re still there as lunch time approaches (as many customers are), be prepared to experience the next stage of Voyage’s dedication to fabulous food. A simple menu makes your decision making a little easier, yet there are no “wrong” choices to be made here. The gourmet burger with hand cut chips is a great selection for those with a love of “house” specialties, along with the eggplant parmigiana and Voyage pie. With changing fillings and hand made pastry, the latter forces you to reconsider your own grandmother’s baking skills. The staff genuinely adore the food just as much as the customers and it shows; it has to be said that it’s been a while since I saw such a happy team of floor staff. Take a drive down the coast and visit Voyage – but be prepared to fall in love!
