Knee Deep in Margaret River has established itself as a premier wine and food destination that has seen clientele flocking from all over to experience the beautiful serenity of the surrounding vineyard from the newly designed alfresco restaurant headed by the very talented Bradley Hornby. Attached to this is a charming Cellar Door which has full views out onto the property and is a wonderful space to sample the full range of premium Knee Deep Wines made by world renowned winemaker Bob Cartwright, formally of Leeuwin Estate. What makes Knee Deep so popular with locals and visitors alike is their commitment in providing friendly and hospitable service and ensuring that your time spent is an enjoyable one.

HISTORY
Knee Deep was established from farmlands by Dr Philip and Sue Childs in 2000. Set on 34 hectares of premium grape growing soil, the first vintage was produced in 2004 followed by the opening of the Cellar Door in 2006. The name Knee Deep is derived from a 'tongue in cheek' reference of jumping in, boots and all, during a time of testing conditions in which there was a major influx of grapes in the region at the same time that Knee Deep was conceived. But most importantly it is a reference to the passion and dedication towards producing premium wines that now signify the name which has defied all odds. Since the opening of the restaurant in September 2008, Knee Deep has been successful in tempting visitors with their impressive menu offerings that is touted to be one of the best in the region.

CHEF
Hailing from New Zealand, Head Chef Bradley Hornby is steadfastly gaining reputation in Western Australia as a culinary star to watch out for. This former New Zealand Junior Chef of the Nation and Chaine de Rotisseurs World Finalist is cooking a storm in the fairly competitive Margaret River Region and has already conjured a league of admirers that are raving about the world class cuisine that is on offer. His dishes exude the confidence of an experienced chef at a high level, having spent many years in various fine dining establishments and five star luxury resorts such as Huka Lodge, Intercontinental Wellington and Lizard Island Resort. But at only 26 years of age, Chef Hornby presents creativity and technique well beyond his years and the growing clientele and interest in his culinary skills are a testament to this.

FOOD
The menu at Knee Deep is selective, keeping it in tune to the seasonality of fresh produce directly from or around the Margaret River area. Showcasing a wonderful array of contemporary Modern Australian cuisine, each dish is balanced with carefully chosen accompaniments that make each dish a standout. From sous vide of Harvey Beef sirloin to Bittersweet Chocolate Marquise, all possess the traits of a perfectly executed dish with the signature flair of Chef Hornby.

WINE
Knee Deep offers a range of high quality wines that can be purchased at Cellar Door or enjoyed during lunch. Manager Liz Buttimore who is a Certified Sommelier with the UK Court of Masters is a great presence within the winery and is on hand to give you advice and background on Knee Deep Wines.

FUNCTIONS
The experienced team at Knee Deep can cater for any occasion from a private dinner, corporate events or an intimate wedding. We were on a 4 month trip to Oz from Uk. Usual camper van oldies! Didn't use the restaurant - sadly and stupidly, but stopped for a wine tasting and ended up buying 1/2 dozen bottles of superb reds. Wish we'd bought more but no room in the camper-van.review 02/12/2011

Fantastic venue. I have eaten here with a group of friends and had the chefs choice on the menu, delicious. My friend had her wedding there, cocktail style. It was the best wedding I've ever been to. Service very efficient, food amazing and heaps of it, atmosphere perfect!!!!! I would recommend this venue to anyone.review 09/08/2011
