The coastal town of Mandurah has experienced massive growth in the past decade and has evolved from a sleepy seaside tourist destination into a thriving local community south of Perth. Now that there’s been a surge in population, an influx of luxury waterfront apartments and an exponential increase in traffic, Mandurah’s dining scene has stepped up to the plate. Situated on Old Coast Road next to Quest Apartments, Scusi is one of the town’s most popular restaurants and has a handful of awards to back up its street cred. An impressive coral reef aquarium sets a relaxed, marine-themed atmosphere in the restaurant and patrons can choose between comfortable lounge seating or more traditional dining settings.

Owner and chef Ashley Parnham’s attention to detail and commitment to using fresh local produce is evident in the quality and style of his Italian inspired cuisine. A strong focus on seafood and steaks means that diners have the opportunity to tuck into some of the region’s best beef and fish. The divine 100-day grain-fed beef fillet medallions with grilled potato, spinach, roma tomato and red wine jus is a stand out on a menu densely populated with meaty treats. Pizza and pasta dishes abound, and the fresh grilled Lancelin crayfish proves a particularly delightful option. Available in half or whole, in mornay or thermodore style, this gorgeous orange crustacean is known as Scusi’s signature dish. Alternative seafood creations include salt and pepper prawn skewers, chilli mussels and an impressive range of fish. Ashley’s true passion in the kitchen is creating desserts, so it’s wise to leave room to sample the Cointreau souffle or the hot chocolate fondant.
