PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAJust like a little European bistro, Harvest Restaurant has oodles of rustic charm. Tucked away in historic North Fremantle, the little cottage that holds this venue has a unique style all of its own with two garden courtyards, dark wood furniture and plenty of colour. Proving the owners are not afraid of taking a few risks here and there, a bar seating four diners provides the perfect spot for the epicurious to overlook the full length of the kitchen while chatting to chefs about their secrets and methods. If the occasion calls for privacy, there’s also an intimate private dining room complete with rows of wine bottles.
To pull off such a successful little venture as Harvest, one has to assume the owners are old hats at this game – and that they are. Owners Miles Hull (ex Little Creatures) and Clint Nolan (The Regent Sydney) certainly have done their time in the service industry and it shows in every aspect of Harvest, particularly the food. If you are often torn between certain menu items Harvest has just the solution. A Taste of Harvest is a weekly changing sample menu that includes five courses paired with or without wine. The journey begins with a light palate-preparing dish such as seared peach with smoked speck and goats cheese before moving on to seared salmon with grapefruit salad followed by pumpkin ricotta rotolo, lamb knuckle and sorbet. Each dish flows beautifully into the next with an abundance of unique flavours and textures, a testament to the fine chefs running the kitchen at Harvest. Of course there is also an a la carte menu with equally exquisite dishes but if you’re here for dinner, my recommendation is the Taste of Harvest. Simply divine.
