In addition to the vineyard planting, a number of varieties of Australian bush food have been established – one of the first commercially viable plantings in the Yarra Valley and in the state. The harvest from these plantings enhances the fresh menu in Rae’s Restaurant. All herbs along with a large amount of vegetables for consumption in the restaurant are cultivated and grown on the property through Balgownie’s ‘veggie garden’.
