Opened in late 2004, Wardens Food and Wine inhabits the old Wardens Hotel in the centre of Beechworth. A scenic three-hour drive from Melbourne, the restaurant has tongues wagging about its Mediterranean menu and carefully selected wine list. Pop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner and feast on the fresh offerings of regional Victoria. Mains such as ricotta and black pepper gnocchi with roasted peppers, brown butter, mint pesto and shaved pecorino toscano are complemented by local and Italian drops of the highest quality. Wardens is well worth the drive from the city.
