Customs House Restaurant and Wine Bar

Took my friend and his soon to be bride out to this venue. By Geelong standards its probably good because I didnt get food poisining. Any compliments end there. The portions were small , 300g rib eye was tiny and cost close to $40. The wine list was a blowout! Cheapest, $50 for a 10 buck chuck. We were asked to move inside after a couple of hours as it was too much of a hassle to keep seving us outside. We retereted to what passed for a poor attempt at an English gentlemans club where we were promptly told they would be closing in half hour. We couldnt help but laugh at how they had set up a bookshelf and removed all the dust jackets so as to expose the gold embossing on the spine. Not one book was a classic! I spent close to $600 and expect better treatment (and service). These places realy need to take a look at themselves and go to Docklands, Lygon st, Fitzroy st and get a grip on real world prices, service, product education and manners.  29/11/2012
