PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAViet Rose is nestled down the far end of Brunswick Street fondly known as the “food end”. Surrounded by similar eateries and with basic, minimalist decor it might not stand out at all if not for its excellent food options and mouth-watering flavours.
Start with an entree of fried wontons, crispy quail or grilled beef in vine leaf. Follow with soup options like chicken hot and sour soup (tom yum) also available in combination or seafood, or a curry laksa with your choice of vegetables, chicken or seafood. A variety of salad options are available including Vietnamese coleslaw with prawns and pork, or the rare cooked beef with lemon sauce. Main course options are broken up into food varieties making ordering easy, with the seafood varieties broken down further still. Sink into one of the enclosed booths, and choose from a menu featuring everything from home-style bowls of steaming Boston clam chowder to snapper fillet on pomme fondant, duxelle and bacon balls with citrus beurre blanc. Alternatively try the combination seafood with a choice of satay, black bean, sweet chilli, lemongrass and chilli, garlic or ginger sauce. Vegetarians are well catered for and there are also a wide variety of noodle and rice options. A concise wine list is offered with reasonably priced options.
