PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAAfter almost two decades, this down-to-earth eatery is still beating strong and is the heart of Victoria Street’s little Vietnam precinct. Tran Tran continues to tirelessly service its diners seven days a week, 11 hours a day, serving up delicious, consistent dishes from the southern Saigon region of the homeland. Options such as the freshly sliced beef soup, the beef pho and the squid with lemongrass and chilli represent more authentic Vietnamese flavours, while dishes like the house-marinated chicken or the sweet and sour pork are adapted to suit a sweetened Australian palette. Be ready for the marinated chicken, which is dramatically delivered to the table in flaming aluminium foil.
Delightful Tran Tran waiters keep the atmosphere cheery and the prices are cheap, very cheap, with mains setting you back just $12 and a glass of an Eden Valley Riesling only $4. BYO is also an option. Snapshots from around the globe decorate the walls of Tran Tran but the space is simple and modest, leaving the focus on the scrumptious food. Tran Tran has a full takeaway menu.
