LOCATIONOn the banks of the Yarra River and only minutes walk from Melbourne’s CBD.
DETAILSThe striking exterior of Melbourne’s World Trade Centre now houses a brand new and equally impressive contemporary pub-style spot. Set to become the watering hole of choice for the nearby after-work crowd, the Hotel’s modern indoor space sprawls out onto the adjacent riverside promenade - perfectly situated for a good dose of people-watching. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer sensational views from the Side Bar to the Yarra River, while an intimate, secluded atmosphere can be found in the Back Room. Throughout, both friends and colleagues will be invigorated by the animated goings on of the harbour in a fresh, stylish setting.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAA sprawling riverside venue with spectacular water views completes the Wharf Hotel as a modern dining space that also invokes a sense of the heritage of the area. The bar features wooden planks originally part of the wharf itself while the original 80 year old wine vats and vintage wallpaper remain in the dining room. Despite the historical feel, the Wharf Hotel has a sleek, contemporary edge. This juxtaposition of old and new, as well as its idyllic position on the water, makes the Wharf Hotel a unique location for drinks, dining or functions. Large al fresco areas overlook the Yarra River and are ideal for enjoying after-work drinks, while inside, more intimate dining spaces are available for meetings or private functions. A glass frontage allows diners to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views whether seated inside or out.
The menus here offer the best local and seasonal produce, with an extensive selection of share plates as well as more substantial main meals. Share plates include potted prawns with charred toast soldiers and bitter green salad, and confit pork belly with Waldorf salad. The Ploughman’s Platter presents rich, cured meats, pickled vegetables, spicy chutney and freshly baked bread. Mains are reminiscent of traditional English dishes infused with French bistro inspiration. The Châteaubriant eye-fillet for two is of rich flavours and should be shared and enjoyed with great company. The flavours of the Berkshire pork rib-eye are cut with a sweet apple and beetroot pudding, and dressed in rum and maple glaze. For dessert the lemon tart has a perfectly light base that does not detract for the citrus accents and whose flavours are accentuated by the honey mascarpone and anise syrup. The extensive wine list features a large selection of international drops and boutique beers which complement the views perfectly.
