LOCATIONThe Trust is located in the Port Authority Building on Flinders Lane in Melbourne.
DETAILSThe great success and drawcard of The Trust Restaurant is its beautiful location within the lofty walls of the old Port Authority Building, which has been lovingly restored in its original style. It is now one of Melbourne’s premier examples of Beaux Arts and Greek revival architecture. The restaurant’s walls are lined with arched fanlight windows under which sit warm, roomy booths teeming with cushions in red and gold. These comfy enclaves frame the dining space so that the superfluity of the room seems refreshingly spacious rather than bare. A classic modern European style menu with shades of Italian cuisine adds to the rich, inviting atmosphere of this stunning heritage venue. At 42 metres, The Trust Bar is Australia’s longest stretching, but it seems hardly out of place in such a grand building. Here you can enjoy the restaurant’s full range of vintage varietals, as well as a far-reaching selection of beer, champagne and cocktails.
FUNCTIONSAs it is such a unique space, the restaurant is often used for large events such as exhibitions, weddings, product launches and fashion shows. The bar and restaurant can cater for events from 10 to 1000 people in various different arrangements including sit down meals and dance functions. Set menus and beverage packages are available.
FOOD AND BEVERAGEThe menu begins with scrumptious Italian style sharing plates including Roasted pork belly on a radicchio topped with cucumber and drizzled vin cotto ($13). A choice selection of starters ($16 - $18) and pasta dishes ($26 - $30) focus on the finest fresh ingredients, and are prepared with sensitivity to texture and seasoning. The rich slow-cooked meat and fish mains ($28 - $35)are the ideal cuisine to savour in such a majestic setting. The sinful desserts include a flourless orange cake with marscapone cream ($13). The extensive wine list has an excellent range of vintage wines by the bottle as well as a comprehensive champagne selection. The bar offers a yummy aperitif and cocktail list almost as long as the bar.
