PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIA
The latest addition to Hardware Lane, only open since August 2006, The Mill is set over two levels and masterfully combines my two favourite pastimes: eating and drinking. Downstairs is Charlie’s Bar, an intimate cocktail bar perfect for starting and finishing the evening, or being the evenings entertainment itself. The ground floor of this 19th Century converted warehouse is home to a bright and spacious restaurant and casual bar area, with large, arched windows opening onto Romeo and Juliet-style balconies. The decor is warm and inviting with dark chocolate and decadent gold hues and an ambience of pure enjoyment.
Chef Carey Stephens has put together a contemporary Modern Australian al a carte menu alongside a substantial bar/snack menu. The extensive wine list is filled with Australian varieties and offers plenty by the glass, but be sure to check out Charlie's cocktail selection too.
