Crammed in among the busy assortment of eateries and eclectic shops that is High Street, the Estelle Bar and Kitchen is a funky space dressed in retro-cool. The fabulous fit-out mixes ‘50s style with a kind of Euro chic that manages to hit the perfect note. A vintage pattern of grey, pink, black and white tiles colour the walls, while an array of quirky knitted smallgoods dangle from the ceiling. This is not shabby chic, however – all the cute crockery matches (itself and the walls) adding to Estelle’s personality.

The menu reminisces of old-school comfort ranging from house-made terrines, toasties, and steak sandwiches served with fried egg, pancetta and chutney, to a lovingly tended Sunday spit roast. Pickled white anchovies with smoked tomato jam and grissini, or chicken liver pâté with quince paste are both fun to share with friends along the bar. Half-shell mussels adorned with chorizo, tomato, chilli and basil beckon from the larger fare while the exotic mushroom risotto features a jumble of mixed wild mushrooms, soft herbs, pine nuts and a generous smattering of Grana Padano cheese. Classic desserts run through from panna cotta to rhubarb crumble, with cinnamon churros indulgently dipped in dark chocolate often enjoyed as a sugary breakfast. With such a well-stocked bar, the array of digestives, fortifieds and stickies finish the night in a sweet buzz, and a fruity jug of Pimm’s from the classy cocktail list will have you swinging with the nostalgic tunes.

The Estelle embodies casual-cool atmosphere with a retro edge making it a great place for a fun catch-up.

FUNCTION
Perfect for seated or cocktail events, the private dining room is available for groups of 10 to 28 people. Events held in the private dining room feature the same menu and service as the restaurant and the same options for classic or adventurous wine matching. The room features Victorian details, an antique fire place, a private bathroom/cloakroom, air conditioning, sound system, and two tall windows overlooking High Street.
