DETAILSThe main dining room at Sun Wah features timber beams, exposed brick walls and delicately patterned, white linen-set tables. There is a melange of traditional Chinese lanterns strung elegantly from the ceiling, which exude an ambient glow that adds an element of soft drama to the space. Decorative Chinese art sheathes the walls, along with other traditional knick-knacks.
FOOD & BEVERAGESun Wah brings a taste of Hong Kong to Melbourne, incorporating both European and Chinese style dishes into the large and diverse menu. Head Chef Albert, and partner Rowena have created eclectic cuisine based on strong classic Cantonese traditions with European fusion techniques. Signature dishes include ginger pear scallops with golden pearl sago served with crispy pork belly and chilli jam for entree, as well as the slowly cooked duckling marinated in schuian jus on a bed of eggplant and green beans for main course. There is a large selection of oven-grilled, vegetarian, and rice or noodle dishes as well as a refined dim sum selection that will ensure dumpling devotees get their sticky fix. A thoughtfully composed wine list has been created by Sommelier Clifford Poon to complement the varied menu, with a nice balance of regional and varietal drops.
FUNCTIONS Sun Wah can hold private celebrations and intimate weddings for up to 80 seated guests or 120 standing. There are a variety of menu and beverage packages available for both sit-down functions and canapé cocktail parties, which suit varied budget and time frames. Sun Wah also provides offsite catering.
