Awarded One Chef’s Hat - The Age Good Food Guide 2012, 2014
A homage to provincial Chinese cooking, Neil Perry’s Spice Temple restaurant in Southbank celebrates the cuisine’s fire and diversity. Spice Temple exudes a darkly dramatic, exotic feel with red hues, rich golden lighting, dark wooden furniture and black crockery. Gold bead curtains serve to partition the large space and give an intimate, sexy atmosphere that is reminiscent of entering an alluring opium den.

A grandiose counterpart of Neil Perry’successful Sydney restaurant, Melbourne’s own Spice Temple explores the diversity of Chinese regional cuisine. Housed within the Crown complex on the former Bistro Guilliame site, this long awaited restaurant exudes a darkly dramatic, exotic feel with red hues, rich golden lighting, dark wooden furniture and black crockery. Gold bead curtains serve to partition the large space and give an intimate, sexy atmosphere that is reminiscent of entering an alluring opium den.

Spice Temple Melbourne - User Reviews

Jacqui:

I don't know whether our server was off the ball tonight but we were disappointed in Spice Temple. We were served one drink in 65 minutes. Our food was then delivered (2 entrees, 2 mains and rice) all in 35 minutes. The small table could hardly handle it! Unfortunately, I can't move beyond that once things start badly at a supposedly fine dining restaurant. I shouldn't have to wave down a server every time I need something. Rock pool is miles ahead for service. Will not be returning. And please at least have one local lager to extinguish the flames. It's okay to please the masses sometimes!review  05/01/2013

Carmel:

On arriving – you are taken into a den of mystery. I was hoping the food equated with the atmosphere and it did. This is not just dining, this is an experience. From the service to the food, you felt like you were walking through ages gone by. I cannot describe the delicacy of the tea smoked duck through to the wagyu beef along with a wine list that covered all tastes. I live in QLD and am planning my next visit just to dine at Spice Temple. Simply divine. Thank you Neil Perry.review  20/09/2011
