Sloaney Pony is a stylish blend of old and modern worlds. It is perfectly set in the historic Fountain Inn Hotel building, built in the 1860s, and the large arch windows woo a delightful natural light that surrounds the front bar. The beautiful wooden furniture and comfy brown leather couches give the space a relaxed and sophisticated feel, while stained glass, a wall of ivy that separates the casual dining area from the main bar, and selected commedia dell’arte prints add a distinctly French-Venetian element. The stunning private dining room, complete with fireplace, large chateau gates and wine selection for your perusal, is ideal for intimate dinners and small to medium groups, while an upstairs function area boasts its own bar and leather couches and can cater for up to 100 people. Outdoor tables look out onto lovely Port Melbourne and are perfect for quiet Sunday afternoons.

Sloaney head chef Lachy Cashman has collated a range of European dishes, many of which have a creative, Modern Australian touch. Smaller dishes are perfect for sharing over a few drinks and start at start $9, while more substantial options go up to $29. Food is available in the restaurant area or at the bar. A thoughtfully compiled beer and wine list offers a selection of beverages from local and international regions; the lovely Rosita Pale Ale from Spain is a must-try.
