LOCATIONNext door to the Princess Theatre, across the road from Parliament.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAClassy, relaxed, and with hints of cigar smoke and cabaret jazz – but not too much – Siglo Bar is a great city hideaway for hedonists, corporate fat-cats, wine and food lovers, or anyone who likes to slow down, exhale, and take in life’s fine, open-air pleasures. Those who enjoy other Con Christopoulos haunts on this end of Spring Street won’t be disappointed, as Siglo’s borrows bits and pieces from its sister bars (Melbourne Supper Club and City Wine Shop). While in keeping with an old-world atmosphere, the unique rooftop setting next door to the Princess Theatre, allows Siglo to forge its own identity and style that is as enchanting as that of its older siblings.
Siglo’s menu is brief, but the selection is well thought out. The thyme and rosemary meatballs and jamon serrano are the standout dishes among some great options. The cheese plate changes regularly but is always fresh and impressive, while the sweets menu boasts a devilish sticky date pudding and a homemade-style tiramisu. The extensive wine list includes a reserve section that is compiled of big names and numbers from local and international wineries, and the handy selection of cognacs and single-malt whiskies can be enjoyed, as the unmistakeable waft of Cuban cigars floats out over the balcony, onto Spring Street.
