PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIANestled in an area not known for its great restaurants, this Italian diner has been embraced by locals for its reliable mix of modern and traditional Italian food, its smart service and pleasant environs since it opened in early 2009. A landscaped jewel within a stark industrial park, it has a sleek and contemporary style that makes it popular for business lunches, while its all-day dining options cater to early breakfasts, quality-take away and more leisurely, yet affordable, a la carte dining. Sette Bello aims to offer a great combination of food, wine, service and setting, and on the whole it delivers with reliably good food, a decent wine list, friendly, professional staff and a smart atmosphere.
Whet your appetite with a small plate of Sicilian white anchovies with lemon oil and grilled focaccia or insalata Caprese with buffalo mozzarella, before sampling seafood risotto with crab bisque, handmade potato gnocchi with sausage, chilli and tomato. Main course items include roasted crispy skin half-duck with baby vegetables and a duck and pear glaze and rabbit braised in limoncello, white wine and duck stock with brandy-soaked sultanas and blanched almonds. Desserts run to staples such as tiramisu, chocolate terrine with almond semi freddo and
spinge – Italian raisin doughnuts served with vanilla bean ice-cream. Like many of the dishes on its menu, Sette Bello is a familiar Italian classic.
