PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAScusami, on the mid-level at Southgate, has a nice covered terrace that overlooks the river. Inside the restaurant, lighting is thoughtfully dim. There’s a certain formality here, with white cloths on the tables, and no cutlery until you order from the crisply and formally attired waiters. The seats are upholstered, the floors are parquetry, and there’s a handsome bar area. There is also an informal bar/eating area called L’Osteria. The menu is essentially traditional Italian with some interesting twists. Italian prosciutto is served with pecorino and sweet pickled shallots, spaghetti might come with bottarga (dried tuna roe) and crab. There’s also more hearty dishes such as pasta with meatballs, and steaks with red wine sauce. Waiters are pleasant and attentive on the upside; on the downside the prices are prohibitively high.
