This unassuming Chinese restaurant may not be the most bright and flashy along the Brunswick restaurant strip, nor the trendiest, but it does offer well priced Chinese food that has authentic flavours. The string of barbecued ducks hanging in the window give away its specialty with barbecued duck and pork the favourite ingredients in many of the dishes. Rize has mastered Asian barbecue skills and all its meats are cooked to create succulent flesh inside crispy skin. The Peking duck three course banquet features Rize’s favourite ingredient and exhibits the restaurant’s best barbecue talents. This banquet offers duck san choi bow, rainbow shredded duck, and Peking duck.


The rest of the menu features the usual Chinese fare, offering dim sum items such as dumplings, wontons and traditional san choi bow. You can find your favourite Asian soups and sizzling dishes on the menu, along with other specialties such as laksa, char kuey teow and Singapore noodles. Some standout choices are the deep fried quail in spicy chilli salt, and the scallop hot pot with ginger and shallot sauce. On weekends Rize offers unlimited yum cha. While there may be an absence of the traditional carts that display sample size dishes, the basic concept remains and the special deal offers hungry lunchtime diners excellent value.
