PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIARenzo’s Bar is one of the more reliable places to eat at Docklands, which has been a bit disappointing on the whole for food-lovers. It’s a big, buzzy place with a covered terrace area overlooking the water, and an indoor area with lots of timber, noise and people. The tables are set without cloths, and the atmosphere is fairly casual. It’s not always relaxed however; on busy nights, the pace is frantic and fun.
Renzo’s menu is extensive so you might be pushed and pulled in many directions. Settle in for a full three-course meal or the excellently valued fixed-price lunch. Step in for a quick pizza before heading off to see something at Telstra Dome. The thin-crusted pizzas here are fantastic having been cooked in a wood-fired oven. Some of the excellent topping combinations include the much-loved rocket and prosciutto, and the mozzarella, potato, caramelised onion, rosemary and parmesan. Before you kick off, however, begin with a herb or garlic focaccia. There are other tasty morsels such as the air-cured beef bresaola with shaved parmesan, olives and olive oil. The veal and chicken main course dishes are worth ordering, too. The wine list is not huge but the choices are good and include some nice Italian wines. The key to the success of Renzo’s that this place is always open, cheerful and reasonably priced.
