No wonder everyone in North Melbourne knows his name! Cool, slick and laid-back, that’s Oskar. Decked out in silver chrome shades, retro chandeliers and seamless black, this resident restaurant of hip Errol Street offers some of the best pizza in town.

Slide onto the black baguette and cruise the menu to hip jazz sounds in the small gallery space or retreat outside, if it’s too crowded. Looking for a quiet night in? No worries. Oskar will join you for take-away.

Oskar makes an impressive range of pizzas from the traditional - tomato concasse base - to the more modern, bianca. Vegetarians will be impressed by the roast pumpkin, garlic, pine nuts, nutmeg and ricotta pizza. The Bull Boar sausage, chilli, fresh basil and provolone pizza is equally satisfying for those with meatier habits. For pizza with a rustic twist, you can’t go past the seasonal mushrooms, tomato concasse, tallegio and truffle oil. The wine list is friendly, as is the selection of beers. The wild rocket, pecorino and pear salad shouldn’t be missed. Don’t leave without ordering the pizza bianca with chocolate, hazelnuts and strawberries. It’s the richness of the chocolate with the subtle saltiness of the pizza base that makes it such a decadent treat. Even if you’re full, order it any way.
