LOCATIONIn the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, MoMo is located in the Grand Hyatt Hotel on the Parisian end of Collins Street.
DETAILSIn the lower level of the Grand Hyatt hotel building, accessible from a lift in the lobby, lays the truly glamorous MoMo Restaurant. As you exit the lift and step out onto the marbled foyer floor, you will find yourself gazing at an impressive floor-to-ceiling glass panelled wall showcasing the beautiful wine bottles the restaurant has on offer. It is a truly decadent entrance from which to enter the main dining hall.
The central dining area features a selection of plush booth style seating in harmonious blends of burgundy and olive hues. Elegant upholstered arm chairs, with Arabian styled detailing also surround white-linen draped tables, accentuating the sophistication of the setting. Crystal light fittings on the ceiling, Moorish table lamps, and opaque blue lighting provide dizzying reflections on the surrounding walls creating a sense of luxury and grandeur.
FOOD & BEVERAGEInnovative chef Greg Malouf has drawn on his cultural heritage and European culinary training to create tasteful modern Middle Eastern cuisine. Embracing the cultural Middle-Eastern tradition of sharing food, MoMo has designed specific Moorish and Arabesque menus to share with family and friends. The classic a la carte menu is also available Tuesday through to Thursday where diners may select an entrée of delicious duck breast roasted on the bone with creamy lentil-burghul pilav and baby beets or a warm salad of roasted Barramundi with fennel, tarragon and Buffalo feta. Main-course is equally impressive with quail in dukkah crumbs, cardamom bacon, mushrooms and beans in verjuice or a succulent veal shank ‘Laban Immor’ with smoked veal tongue and a silverbeet manti dumpling. For dessert opt for the Mezza platter featuring three signature desserts such as Persian saffron tart, passion fruit curd and mascarpone cheese, which will leave your palate buzzing and eager for more. Head sommelier Jack Nolan is constantly re-designing the extensive MoMo wine list so the unique aromas and flavours of boutique, local and international labels are well represented and compliment the fresh flavours of the Middle East.
