Jarrah’s well lit dining room may be simple in style, with classic wooden tables and plush blue cushioned chairs, but in the evenings tables are proudly dressed in linen, immediately allowing for a more intimate feel. Across the hallway is the bar, a busy area especially at lunch time when the restaurant is closed for conferencing and offering the likes of beer battered fish and chips or the Quay West burger. In the summer months the outdoor dining area is utilised; popular both with diners and for functions, you can relax in the cool breeze that slips across the Yarra River.
South African chef Brett Kuper has a hotel background and his latest menu was created to suit every taste. A continental buffet breakfast is available or you can order hot favourites from the menu. For dinner start with the crispy-skinned fillet of baby snapper on ratatouille with saffron aioli. Follow with the roast lamb rack with spring herb farce, fondant kipfler potatoes and red wine jus. For dessert try the Jarrah Sonata made up of cappuccino mousse, a vanilla pod ice cream cone and chocolate mud cake. A fixed price pre-theatre menu inclusive of a glass of wine is available from 6pm to 7pm. The wine list boasts many Australian varieties with prices to suit all budgets.
