Italibar is a stylish, modern and laidback coffee lounge/restaurant in Melbourne’s fast-paced Hardware Lane. You can mix with the corporate suits, tourists and students alike in this CBD strip, finding everything from fine dining to casual lunching. And yet, it is the understated but sophisticated vibe at Italibar that makes it a relaxing option on your break. Fresh focaccias, Turkish breads and sandwiches are delicious and include fillings from a range of cuisines. Lebanese-style sandwiches include the haloumi cheese and zucchini, while more traditional gourmet focaccias include the spinach and fetta. Jalapenos and chillies also make an appearance for those after something spicy. The traditional Lebanese breakfast is a highlight, comprising of sweet Lebanese bread with savoury fillings.

Owner Oliver Kaissar mans the espresso machine and pumps out robust and flavourful coffee with a smile. Kaissar says Italibar’s emphasis is on quality, well-sized lunches and breakfasts at a cheap price, and Kaissar often has great daytime specials. Italibar opened in September 2008 and has had no problems filling its tables, and with an upcoming coffee special offering $1.80 coffees before 11am throughout October, I’m sure things will only get busier.
