PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAThey’re downright friendly folk at Fox in the Box. Whether you pop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner or something in between, you’re assured of being well looked after in this contemporary spot that serves as cafe, bar, diner and art space. The Fox in the Box mantra dictates that life is just long enough for great coffee, fabulous food and laughter, and that ethos translates into a people-oriented, no fuss vibe that you feel as soon as you enter. It also translates into simple, delicious food that easily caters to dietary requirements – for example, pretty much everything on the menu is available gluten-free.
Salads, risotto and pasta feature as lunch items and are extended through to the evening menu three nights a week. Pan-fried chilli prawns with lemon and jasmine rice or linguine with crab, chilli, basil, limoncello and mint are indicative of the fresh flavours at work here. Evening fare might include Atlantic salmon served with warm potato and olive salad, pan-seared marinated lamb cutlets or 400g rib eye steak with horseradish cream, roquette, jus and French fries. A popular closer is the Lindt chocolate pudding with chocolate ganache and ice-cream served on the side to mix to your own satisfaction. There’s even a “cubs” menu available between 6pm and 7pm to placate fractious children and frazzled parents and ensure everyone leaves satisfied, well fed and happy.
