Dolce is Italian for sweet, so I guess the loose translation for this cafe and function venue is “sweet lounge”. With its warm interior of rich dark wood, large gilded mirrors and cosy, plump cushions, sweet lounge is actually quite fitting. Sip a hot cappuccino while flicking through the paper at a communal bar area, unwind with a glass of wine and bowl of pasta in the informal dining area, or sip a cocktail as the sun sets over busy King Street. Whatever takes your fancy, Dolce Lounge can accommodate.

Open weekdays, Dolce Lounge serves breakfast until 3pm to accommodate the late risers. Chow down on French toast with maple syrup and mascarpone cheese, buttermilk pancakes with red plums, maple syrup and double cream, or Turkish eggs poached and baked in yoghurt and served with toast. From the express sandwiches selection choose such lunch options as the roast veg in a Turkish roll with Yarra Valley fetta, or the Dolce beef burger with bacon, tasty cheese, tomato relish and thick fries. Thursday and Friday nights Dolce is also open for dinner with such tempters as salt‘n’pepper calamari with Asian greens and a sticky soy dressing, or a 350 gram porterhouse steak served with roast potatoes and mushrooms. Fully licensed, Dolce Lounge can accommodate your most every alcoholic want.
