The interior is earthy and organic with all wooden furnishings and luxe Asian-inspired design embellishments in muted fawn hues. Lacquered geometric screens envelop the space, and a range of pendant lighting fixtures fill the rooms with an ambient glow.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Chao Gao presents diners with a well-rounded Asian food experience with cuisine inspired by the unique flavours of Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. The ‘Hawker-Street’ style dishes come in small platters to share including lemongrass tofu served with chilli soy dipping sauce, shredded honey beef, and chilli squid coated in spices and lemon chilli syrup. As well as Asian tapas there is a refined selection of main dishes including fragrant vegetable, chicken and baby goat mussamun curries. A range of stir-fry and noodle dishes also grace the menu, including Mongolian garlic lamb with a sherry infused garlic dressing, green onions and cashews, and prawn udon in a thai basil sauce. There is a special cocktail list full of classic and contemporary flavours, as well as a good selection of beer from Asia and its surrounds.
FUNCTIONS
Cho Gao can cater for a range of functions from big birthday celebrations to corporate lunches. There is an exclusive private dining room known as Ronin’s Chambers for 30 seated guests, as well as the intimate Chairman’s Lounge for 30 seated and 45 standing. The main dining room seats 40 people for a seated function with private access to the balcony, which seats 70, and overlooks the State Library. The Opium Lounge seats 45 guests and holds 60 for a cocktail style event, and the Harem’s Quarters Cocktail Lounge holds 80 guests.
