LOCATIONLocated opposite the Crown Spa on Level 3 at Crown Towers.
DETAILSBreezes offers an oasis in the city - with a sun drenched terrace and al fresco style restaurant overlooking the CBD skyline and Yarra River.
The appetising menu is inspired by French Provincial flavours, with succulent seafood taking pride of plate – and ask Breezes staff about designing a set menu for that special occasion. Breezes is the perfect place to settle in for a relaxing lunch or dinner, or experience the Summer BBQ on the terrace (weather permitting) from November through until the end of March.
PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIALet’s be honest. Breezes can be hard to find in the vastness of Crown. You must go up by lift to the third level, take a stroll past the giant swimming pool and traipse up a few stairs to find what you seek. There are a couple of reasons why Breezes is worth the trouble to locate. For a start, it’s got million dollar views of Melbourne and the city skyline. If you can tear your eyes from the panorama you’ll notice that the handsome Mediterranean-inspired decor is equally pleasing to look at. Secondly, it’s very smart without being too fancy-pants, striking a charming balance between elegant and casual.
There are separate menus for lunch and dinner, with a few dishes that cross over. The food has a contemporary edge with strong Mediterranean influences, apparent in a main course of grilled blue eye with prosciutto, eggplant, raisins and olives. Starting with the tasting plate is an excellent idea, particularly if you’re friendly and like to share. Make your choice of four tastes from the seven offered, including spice-crusted tuna with an agrodolce (sweet and sour) dressing and venison prosciutto with pears. Mains include a seafood platter, an enterprising range of fish dishes and a selection of steaks. Side orders, such as sauteed spinach with pine nuts and a delicious ratatouille put the finishing touch on any dish. The drinks list is well chosen and reasonably priced, with a good selection of Australian and imported wines by the glass.
