PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAThey say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, which means Boheme is a very good way to start the day. It’s a big bold place, with high ceilings and a strong colour scheme. Red ceiling, white walls, accents of slate grey and gold, and a big old-fashioned looking bar along one wall. There are some stools at the bar, a few couches and low tables for relaxing over a drink, and lots of bare-topped tables at which to eat.
This is café food, done well. It’s generous, fresh, and nicely presented. Breakfast is especially nice because the light streams in through the huge windows (which are thick enough to mute the sound of busy Bridge Road). There’s a good range of breakfast options, starting with a big bowl of fruit salad and thick yoghurt, to eggs plus anything you want – spinach, tomatoes, bacon, hash browns, and so on. There are focaccias at lunch time, and a chance to sit around with coffee and cake at any time. There are specials chalked on to a blackboard for bigger and slightly more formal dishes, including steak and fish. Or there’s pasta, or pizza, and remember – the burgers are good at Boheme.
