PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAIn the heart of New Quay Promenade sits Bhoj, the highly acclaimed Indian eatery that was awarded the title of Best Indian Restaurant two years running by The Age Good Food Guide. Boasting exceptional Melbourne views with extensive outdoor and indoor seating and a moderately priced menu filled with authentic Indian tastes, this is waterfront dining at its best.
Start with a vegetable samosa (spiced vegetables stuffed in pastry, deep fried and served with pakadi chat), or the Rajasthani sula lamb (milk fed morsels marinated to perfection and barbecued in the charcoal oven). For main sample one of the curry selections such as the tandoori chicken masala (on the bone tandoori chicken pieces cooked in tomato and onion curry with ginger and coriander), or the palak gosht (lamb morsels cooked with spinach with a touch of sweet fenugreek). Finish with the gulab jamun (an evaporated milk dumpling in a light sugar syrup served with vanilla ice-cream). A variety of banquet menus are offered ranging from the $25 per head lunch menu for a minimum of four persons, to the $45 dinner option. An extensive wine list of mostly Australian varieties is offered at varying prices with a few by the glass.
