DESCRIPTION
The common misconception of South East Asian cuisine is that the hotter is definitely the better, but when you walk into ARALIYA leave all those thoughts at the door and gear yourself for an experience you won’t forget. Established for over 23 years, it is of no surprise that ARALIYA is one of Hawhorn’s treasures.
From the moment you enter, the subtle aroma of cinnamon lingers in the air and you are taken into a place where time ceases. The interior modern, yet warm, enhances the cosiness and you will realise that this is no ordinary eatery.
With a surprising blend of spices, Head chef Sriyan has perfected the definition of fusion that you won’t comprehend where the west ends and east begins. Mt Leura Lamb Shanks with Roasted Cummin and Dates is the ideal meal for a cold wintery night or try the Jaggery Beef so tender that melts in your mouth. The varied seasonal vegetables ARALIYA is famous for, from twice cooked eggplant with dates to the unconventional shredded Brussels Sprouts with coconut and mustard seeds, no vegetarian or Coeliac will miss out. We are also Halal friendly and meat dishes are Halal.certified.
Like most fine dining restaurants, ARALIYA is wine-centric with an inspired wine list that flawlessly matches the food, it is reasonably price and extensive in range.
If authentic Sri Lankan food is what you are after, ARALIYA also provides a Sri Lankan Food @ the communal table or enjoy the same at your Dining Table with our Take Home Dinner Menu.

The restaurant was originally situated at 611 Glenferrie Road. It soon started getting recognition as a local favourite for "that touch of spice". Araliya has now moved to a more spacious location at 629 Glenferrie Road. It now operates as a wine bar, cafe and restaurant.
Araliya is open from 11am with a selection of boutique wines chosen by reputable wine makers and wine judges who are long time customers of the restaurant.
The new location is able to cater for more people. A small function room is available which can seat up to 20 people comfortably. It can cater for daytime or evening office functions and wine club dinners (special corkage applies). The bar can be booked for drinks and cocktail parties with canapes and finger food supplied. You may book the function room for up to 150 people for a larger event. You can also order cakes for 21st's, engagements, and weddings made to your specifications by our pastry chef, Ai Kosugi.
Vegetables are a focal point at Araliya. We have up to six vegetables every day cooked in various styles you can feast on. Examples: assorted beans with cashew nuts, pumpkin with ground mustard, grated cauliflower pan fried with shredded coconut, twice cooked eggplant with dates, beetroot with curry leaves, pepper fried okra and more or cleanse your stomach with a beautiful herb salad.
