PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAAgapi is a long-running success on busy Swan Street. The family-owned and run business provides all the things one expects from a Greek restaurant. It’s noisy, it’s cheerfully busy and the menu offers all the staples of Greek cuisine, so it’s a good place to share a meal with friends. It’s actually a very versatile place, since it works equally well for a quick meal (dips and a mixed grill, for example) or for families and larger groups. There are two levels so it’s worth booking if you have a preference for sitting upstairs or downstairs.
Everyone likes the dips here, which come singly or as a shared plate. Other dishes are even more tempting and, at the risk of being cliche, you will not be disappointed if you order grilled calamari, marinated octopus, olives, stuffed vine leaves and saganaki. The grills are also highly recommended; try the quail or mixed grill which works well for three to four people and includes a wide range of meats including souvlaki and lamb chops. The wine list is reasonable and everything is fairly priced.
