It’s been said that the freshest fish in the Bay are shared between the seals and this restaurant. They catch their own fish from an old 12-metre fishing boat. Freshness and simplicity are the keynotes to their cooking, and the relaxed, sea-green space with al fresco tables for summer, plus the always delightfully smiling service, makes everything taste just that much better. Combine location, location, location with quality, innovation and service and you have the hottest cafe, bakery and casual noshery in town.
Dolly Parton-like oysters come from just down the Bay and are shucked to order to be served glisteningly natural and briny or with sour cream, smoked salmon and chives. Tuna steaks come seared rare – perfection with just a drizzle of soy and seasoned vinegar. Overall, there’s a commendable cooking philosophy of letting the freshness of the product speak for itself with not a crumbed or battered fish in sight. To keep the punters happy there’s lamb, beef and chicken for those who must, and daily blackboard specials for the regulars. The wine list appropriately features wines from the East Coast, at very reasonable prices with some excellent back vintages available.

We always make a point of travelling to Coles Bay on our Tassie trips to dine at MM's. The food is exemplary and the presentation 5 stars. We have taken international visitors there and they have been amazed at the sophistication of the restaurant given its' rural location. One of our all time favourites.review 28/12/2011

This was our second trip to Coles Bay and we missed out on dining here the first time. So we booked for our last night and were not disappointed. It is always booked out so that gave us an indication that it must be special, and it is! The food was unbelievably good. We ordered a dozen Oysters Dublin as starters, followed by fish of the day, chicken and calamari mains. Home made Tiramisu (by Madge), completed our meal. Each was presented with a flair normally seen in 5 star Hyatt restaurants, and other Melbourne/Sydney greats.Attention to detail is paramount here. The taste experience matched the standard of presentation. All in all a faultless meal made even more enjoyable as the chefs' wife and partner was our host. This restaurant is far superior than the one we ate at in Hobart the night before, and deserves the award they hold. We are looking forward to our next gourmet experience when we return in Autumn.review 19/01/2009
