Take a seat on a recycled aluminium chair and then take time out to amuse yourself with the food anecdotes painted on the wall. Plant a radish, get a radish - never any doubt. That's why I love vegies - you know what they're about! Sharyn Sinclair and Carol Ashton are all about giving people a completely organic eating and shopping experience. Realising their own needs were the same as many others, they brought together an organic market, cafe and wellness centre all under one roof. Their wonderful manifestation invites customers to enjoy a nutritious meal or snack then stock up on wholesome goodies from the aisles beyond the dining room. Buy a reusable jute bag and know you are supporting the livelihood of Bangladeshi artisans. All produce used by chef Marie Roberston can be found on the shelves, meaning her menu sustains with organic foods, juices and smoothies. If pressed for time, most dishes are available to take away.

Breakfast should not be missed - especially at Wild Thyme. Sides of sauteed garlic greens or salt bush lamb sausage make excellent company to scrambled or poached eggs with sourdough toast. Biodynamic oat porridge with raisins and cinnamon is cooked with milk and topped with fruit compote. The brekky sandwich will fuel you for the day with its grilled Turkish bread filled with tomato, cheese, bacon, baby spinach, herb omelette and chef's mayo. The falafel platter makes for an exotic lunch or shared entree and arrive with house-made hummus, goat's fetta, grilled eggplant, kalamata olives, a mini tomato and rocket salad and Turkish pide bread. The signature roulade is tossed with free range chicken, herbs and vegetables. Return for an afternoon tea of hummingbird cake or frangipani and fruit tart. The mellow, organic coffee is reason enough for a visit.

Wild Thyme Organic Café

I arrived at the Wild Thyme Organic Café on Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. The café is very appealing to the eye and makes it clear that all of their products are guilt free due to the banners outside signifying wellness and taste. The interior was also very modern and the colours reinforced the fact that I was in an organic café.

I first decided that I would take a look around the market. The market was far more than I expected. I assumed that the market would just sell a few organic ingredients but I was proved wrong. The market sold organic makeup, organic ingredients and organic ready made food such as biscuits and lasagne sheets. The layout of the market, although standard, fitted very impressively with the café’s design.

I then went into the café part of the establishment and took a look around. A decorated wall at the far side of the café was a nice touch as well as the layout which in my opinion was very calming. The service was very impressive and they were very helpful. Although there was a technical issue with the computer when I was there, they handled the situation very impressively unlike other staff I have known of.

I challenged the café to make one of my favourite dishes, a ham and cheese croissant. Although it was quite pricy and a long wait, I can now say that it was probably one of my favourite ham and cheese croissants. Since I was running out of time, I had it as a takeaway, which was a very nice feature of the café. They are very prepared for the takeaway option and offer a very handy box. Even after walking to Adelaide Railway Station, it was still warm and delicious.

If you have the time and money, I definitely recommend the Wild Thyme Organic Café. It is very worth it.
