Following its fiery demise and impressive resurrection, the Walkers’ Arms Hotel and buffet restaurant continue to feed, water and entertain in Walkerville. Should you not feel like stuffing yourself stupid on the smorgasbord, grab a Belvedere voddy and consider the bistro menu of salt and pepper squid swirls, wild forest mushroom risotto, Atlantic salmon with buttered asparagus, Nicoise salad, and a 1kg mussel pot.
Opposite the stalwart ABC building and just minutes from the CBD.

With a team of 18 “speciality” chefs cranking out the goods, the Walkers’ Arms’ much-loved smorgy offers something for most. Considering its cooks’ “passion for food and international culinary expertise” a sardonic smirk does appear at the sight of chicken nuggets and potato gems lurking in the bain-maries. While this sizeable spread was never likely to be the touted “dining experience designed for the most discerning palate”, there is much enjoyment to be had by those looking for quantity, quantity, quantity.
Old school numbers include a trusty carvery, cream of cauli soup, beef goulash, honey chicken, fried rice, and good ol’ pav. These are found among burritos, braised oxtail in red wine, Moroccan chicken, Asian noodle salad and sticky rice pudding. Ever popular fresh-cooked prawns are in residence, and for all-aged kids – a donut machine capable of catapulting out 100 of the sugary, cinnamon, belly-fillers an hour. With one’s subsequent full tum, it seems only fitting to slip down in to the sunken lounge area after dinner, for a digestive. Whilst there, study the bugs on the backs of the chairs, and staff. Look closely at the magnified insect DNA worked in to the walls. Interrogate your friendly bar person as to what this is all about.
