Vino is a much loved Unley Italian restaurant. Appreciated by many since 2001, it has lovingly fed, and fed well, hungry families, loyal locals, CBD lunchers, and hand-holding couples. Expect generosity of serve and spirit, with rustic Italian flavours and charm, in the twinkliest restaurant around. Settle down to a Sicilian nudged menu of meats, seafood, pasta, and of course, pizza. When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…
Near the Greenhill Road intersection.

Cosy, intimate, romantic, quaint, homely…roll out all the clichés, but what can we say, this is what we love about Vino and Vino loves us right back. When owners Vittorio and Tania Paola briefly sold out, bottom lips dropped and brows furrowed in concern. “Would it stay the same?” It did not, and they returned. Once again Vittorio “owned” the room. Many a diner will tell you he is reason why they enjoy bringing family and friends back. Vittorio is Vino Ristorante. He shines among candlelit tables, tea lights, lamps and fairy lights – playfully informing those young and old they can only enjoy dessert if they eat their vegies.
Naturally, Tania’s family recipes are crowd pleasers too, in a seasonal menu plumped with fresh produce and herbs. The Sicilian presence is in large macaroni lashed with traditional saucing of eggplant, ricotta, napoletana, and fresh basil - Rigatoni alla Norma - is a hats off to the Bellini opera. Another pasta that sings is Fettuccini Pavarotti – its long strands tossed with Aussie prawns, garlic, spinach, onions, and semi dried tomatoes in a rose sauce. The standing ovation however goes to Cioppino - a Sicilian fish stew of prawns, mussels, calamari and fish, simmered in a broth of tomato, white wine, garlic, chilli and fennel, with green beans and potato. It presents with a beautiful, big, lip smacking, rich rusticity - how easy it would be to slurp it straight from the bowl - surely there must be a bib somewhere…
