99 O’Connell is a good address if you are looking for an Italian meal. In a neighbourhood known for its array of Italian cafes, Scuzzi is another of the Cafe Paesano ilk. Known for its bustling, cosmopolitan atmosphere and gift for turning out piping hot pizza and pasta, Scuzzi does dining at a fast rate. Expect a casual experience and you will not be disappointed. If you can deal with ordering and paying upfront, while you get on with the business of talking and socialising, then Scuzzi very possibly suit you. Sit outside under the bright blue umbrellas and watch the world go by, or inside at the wooden tables where a very large TV screen unfortunately dominates the entire back wall.

There is nothing here that will truly knock your socks off, nor is there a debonair wine toff in sight, but for a family outing, a quick lunch or a late night snack until 11pm with a glass of house wine, Scuzzi is the old reliable. Open from 8am in the morning, the outdoor tables under the canopy of blue umbrellas attract more than a couple of locals for coffee on their way to work. The warm glow of the wooden interior during the evening entices local couples and families back for a noisy fast-paced dinner. Blackboard specials and authentic desserts are good to keep your eyes on, while the standard pastas, linguini, baked fish and veal are fresh, hot and full of first rate ingredients.
