Blu Grotto in Rosalie has been a popular port of call for many patrons who are either beginning or winding down their evening in this part of Brisbane. The restaurant boasts a central location, an open-air design and a friendly ambience, offering either a full dining experience or appetisers accompanied by pre or post-dinner drinks. The Blue Grotto is a famous seaside cavern on the Isle of Capri in Italy, which during daylight illuminates a magnificent blue from the reflections of the pristine waters. It was famously frequented by the emperor Tiberius who used it as his own private swimming pool. The only link between this and the Blu Grotto of Rosalie is the brilliant neon in her facade signage – no caves or Roman emperors here.

While the menu nods to a few different dining options, the focus is on light tapas-style meals matched to the wines on offer. Share a plate of seared scallops with coriander, chilli served abed mirin salsa, and locally sourced, sesame-pressed soft shell crab with avocado, lemon juice and crusty sourdough bread. Crunch down on some potato and gorgonzola fritters with horseradish creme fraiche and wash it all down with a Spanish red.
