PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAEasy going and low key, one of West End’s newest little music haunts is quickly becoming well known for tasty bar food and great entertainment. The Music Kafe has that true blue pub “loud-music-no-rubbish-leave-your-metro-hairstyle-at-home” feel about it. That’s not to say the staff aren’t super friendly and easy going. Like all good casual bar dining, the menu covers all the basics – from nachos and salads, to pizzas and ribs and (of course) the staple burgers and wedges. Haloumi appears to be an interesting special touch, making an appearance in a burger and a breakfast meal served with Turkish bread.
The hearty, but wallet-friendly, all-day breakfast menu is loaded with classic essentials like the “big brekky” with stacks of bacon, sausages, fries, mushrooms, beans, spinach, toast and sizzling tomato and eggs. Add a big fresh juice and coffee and you really can’t go wrong. Inside, bright, intensely colourful walls are decorated with accordions and brass instruments and then dotted with 1980s poster records. The Music Kafe is not a place you take your grandma for a light luncheon, but if you’re into a good, solid breakfast, great local live music or a pub meal, you’ll certainly be chuffed.
