PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIACafe Tempo is an urban grunge cafe that boasts a funky atmosphere in which to relax and catch up with friends over coffee, or enjoy a night out over a great meal in entertaining surrounds. Tempo has history too. The original cafe/restaurant to open on Boundary Street, it has seen a fair few changes since then – back before restaurants and cafes were around in the suburbs and if you wanted to eat out then you had to go to the city.
Tempo is run by ex-fine dining chefs who were after a change and Tempo is the result. Therefore the food is a cut above your average cafe fare, and the chefs ensure that quality produce is used and only quality meals are delivered to your table. Tempo is well known for their breakfasts, which feature wood smoked bacon, free-range eggs, grilled tomato, field mushrooms, pork and herb chipolatas, potato hash and organic sourdough bread. The food is described as modern cuisine with French influences and a twist of Asian. Lunch and dinner are exciting with tempting dishes such as cured pork belly risotto, or potato gnocchi with field mushrooms, cream and pancetta finished with white truffle oil.
