Stone is a modern restaurant located in South Bank’s entertainment strip, featuring sleek, modern lines in a white minimalist dining room that overlooks Grey Street. Hotel restaurants are really making a come back and the fare at the Mantra Southbank's Stone is hugely removed from the uninspiring buffet stodge once associated with hotel kitchens. Heading up the team in whites is Sian Bresolles, who has vast experience under the likes of Russell Armstrong in Palazzo Versace among others. Her handiwork breathes creativity and life into the menu at Stone, mixing Australian ingredients with international influences.

The menu offers sharing plates for starters with tempting choices such as veal and wood mushroom meatballs with tomato coulis or Coffin Bay rock oysters with a tangy citrus salsa. Other enticing options feature influences from all around the globe such as the Mexican red bean and chicken quesadilla or the Stokes Point smoked cheddar souffle with pomegranate molasses and poached fig. Mains include tender eye fillet with pommery mustard butter, leek and smoked bacon salad and soubise jus. There are often creative specials featuring choice cuts of Wagyu steak. Desserts are a must to finish with rhubarb and apple creme brulee and Manuka honey sorbet.
