Just half and hour’s worth of driving will take you from Brisbane to the picturesque location of Scarborough. Here the foreshore is lined with Hoop pines that tower over the water’s edge and provide welcome shade on a sunny day. Not far from the water and with a dazzling view of Moreton Bay, is Danny's Restaurant. It’s timber-furnished balcony is the ideal refuge from which to relax, take in the view, and refresh yourself after the drive with a beverage or meal. Inside, the restaurant is cosy and welcoming; carpeted in rich blue with a nautical theme and cunningly placed mirrors so nobody misses out on the view.

The menu is a result of European influence, modern Australian ideas and a location that lends itself to, of course, seafood. For starters try the duck liver and Grand Marnier pate; or for something lighter, the freshly shucked oysters with lime and wasabi sorbet. Next will be lambs brains for more adventurous or traditional palates, and lightly grilled spanner crab and king prawn fritters with an Asian salad for seafood devotees. While the restaurant is presentable, one can’t help feeling that the interior could do with a bit more pizzazz. However, the kitchen more than makes up for it, having taken out the Restaurant of the Year Award in 2006 from the Redcliffe Fine Dining Society.
