The tiled floor, tropical plants and views of Kangaroo Point’s luxury apartments give the place a vaguely Mediterranean hotel feel, while block-mounted photos of exquisite meals keep appetites whetted. Owners Augustine and David Schramm ensure your night runs smoothly while chef James Stephen does solid modern Australian fare with a European pedigree.

A slightly over-descriptive menu details highlights such as Moreton Bay bug tails topped with crisp potato roesti, rocket salad with lime dressing and drizzled truffle oil for entree. As mains go it’s hard to resist the fresh fillet of barramundi, wrapped in cabbage and filo with pan-seared Japanese scallops and sauteed potatoes in chive butter sauce. If you’re looking to lighten your wallet, Savini do a worthy rendition of the classic chateaubriand for two - sliced, roasted eye fillet of beef on a platter of seasonal vegetables and potatoes, completed with red wine sauce and bearnaise. For dessert, pamper yourself with the soft-centred chocolate tart accompanied with silky vanilla bean anglaise and a ball of rich chocolate sorbet.
