Food was excellent. We had 6 people so we tried a wide variety of entree, mains and desserts. Not a single dish disappointed. The kangaroo fillet is awesome, the 24hr slow cooked lamb shoulder likewise, but order sides, as most mains are pretty naked. The wait staff are a little run off their feet and lack some experience, but extremely pleasant. The place does need a sommelier, or at least training for wait staff in handling wines. However, overall this is an extremely good restaurant. I'm going back for more.

The restaurant stands out among the other venues at Wilston.
The decor is very impressive. We went on a voucher and were treated extremely well. The food was different and with the help of the wait person who took the time to explain various items we choose a very interesting menu. The food, wine and staff were excellent. Had we not been on a voucher we thought the price of drinks was a bit steep.

Arrived at the resaturant and thought WOW. I loved the entrance and found the menu a delight to read. It was a visual treat and it tasted delicious. I am a vegetarian and it was honestly the best meal I have ever received in any restaurant in Brisbane or Sydney. Had the pannacotta for dessert, it was beautiful to look at, and tasted wonderful. The surroundings were beautiful. I went to the ballet after the meal, however at the end of the evening, my guest and I were still discussing the wonderful meal we had. Well worth the trip. I will be returning.

Dragged to the north side of town out of the city, well New Farm, perhaps my expectations were low to start, Q’Essence’s design was the first to surprise, well designed offering leather lounges, leather seats and a full bar. I especially liked the trees. Ooo will be the words on your lips when you arrive. We were all greeted politely, seated with drinks arriving promptly, starters arrived allowing an argument over the best starter; chicken with seared scallops with “the smoothest sweet corn puree” Vs Heirloom beets, both around $18. Well it contained conversation until our mains arrived. Mains, like the entrees were a surprise, well worth the trip in the car! Two had steaks, myself being one, rib eye fillet of at least 300gr well-seasoned with silk mash potato and sauce $36, the best steak I have had, well ever. The others mains, were Salmon $31 and the mouth full I had was so soft it did melt in the mouth. The only down side, to full to eat a full desert $16. The night continued with cocktails and conversation until midnight. Ok, well done Q’Essence the north has finally a Restaurant and Bar worth driving for.

Had piece of scotch fillet, potatoe and radish, no other vegetables for $36. Food was cooked to an acceptable level but not Wow, for the price. Would I recommend this restaurant...NO.

We dined at Q Essence early on a Friday night. There was a good mix of diners as well as those just enjoying a drink and the bar menu. Whilst the menu may seem a little 'daring' for some, the food was sensational. Having only recently moved from Sydney and been slightly unimpressed with what we had tried so far it was a delight to now have a great local restaurant in walking distance. Among the dishes we tried were the pork belly (which I'm pleased to report had the crispy skin everyone is looking for) and the duck breast which was tender and delicious without the often accompanying layer of fat under the skin. We also indulged in the chocolate fondant which was fantastic and definitely one for the choccoholics (not sure you could do this one alone though!). Wine list was good with a nice selection of cocktails on offer. Service was great, if a little too over-attentive at times but not intrusive. Overall, a great night and would highly recommend.

Pleasant environment. Shortage of entree plates meant sharing plate with others at the table. No forks until available after washing. Asked for water 3 X before delivery. Mains interesting- pork belly lacked crisp top. Pleasant service, just not effective, disappointing- prices did not match standard. Hoping these are teething issues.

Few teething issues, food not one of them. It's great to see a restaurant of this calibre in the burbs. Had the lemon custard and fondant - both of very high standard. Hopefully the locals get right behind it - I know I will be.
