The former restaurant SaVini recently changed hands and is up and running again under a new name with entrepreneur Linda Battin at the reigns. Located in the suave suburb of Kangaroo Point surrounded by high-rise buildings and expensive cars, not far from the glittering lights of the Story Bridge, sits Louey’s. Refurbished to improve use of the alfresco area, the front entrance opens onto a tasteful entryway emphasised by elegant stained glass lighting. An intimate feel and mod furnishings continue onto the mezzanine floor where the main seating area is located. The front of house team work well together and service is fairly attentive.

The menu is a mature and extensive piece of work that skilfully marries quality Italian dishes with a comprehensive and well-rounded wine list. Choose from antipasto options such as beef carpaccio with parmesan, rocket, baby capers and truffle oil, or warm figs filled with gorgonzola wrapped in prosciutto with vinacotta. For mains there is a selection of pasta, risotto, pizza and meat dishes. The gnocchi with braised oxtail and mushrooms is a favourite, otherwise try the osso bucco with truffle mash and crispy basil. To finish there is an extensive list of liqueurs to accompany a dessert such as the rum pannacotta with marinated figs.
