A legion of partisans as well as anyone fond of pastry delights and those not scared of a little elegance have embraced this French renaissance-style Patisserie for breakfast, lunch and all of the moments in between. A French affair that aims for the tummy but captivates the heart is Le Bon Choix’s selection of stunning specialty mousse cakes. Crafted like individual palm-sized Monets, ageless works of art, each one tastes truly sublime. Enticing patrons to the gold-trimmed glass cabinets are treats like the “le serin” – a mango mousse with a hidden centre of creme brulee and the fittingly-named “le envie” made with mascarpone, coffee and devilish chocolate.

The cookery meets all of the class and passion that French culinary is noted for resulting in perfect coffee, quiches created from quality ingredients that you can taste, and sensational croissants which come warmed and laden with cheese and premium ham. But it was the chocolate eclair that stole my heart. The cream is made in dairy heaven and the subtle texture of the fluffy pastry is ideally complemented by sweet chocolate icing. Delicious! The classic grace of Le Bon Choix’s refined butter-soft decor makes you want to twirl in your hooped petticoat – or tip your top hat – and skip off into the warm afternoon with a brown bag overflowing with ciabatta loaves.
