PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAHotel Broadway's reinvention over the past couple of years has seen it become a hot place to be. Serving well above average pub food at well below average pub restaurant prices, Hotel Broadway's menu is simple yet delicious. $10 cook-your-own steaks have proved popular with the hotel's clientele. The steaks are taken out into the beer garden and are accompanied by serve-yourself salads. All the fresh ingredients are sourced from farmers markets, and there are always loads of options to choose from. Keep an eye out for the specials board too, which sports classic (and modern) pub fare such as veal schnitzels, spaghetti meatballs with a rich tomato sauce and chicken Caesar salads.
The Hotel has recently introduced a gourmet burger menu, with wonderfully innovative and delicious new flavour combinations all courtesy of the owner, who is a qualified chef. For vegetarians the Vege Sanchez burger is amazing, consisting of a huge crusty roll filled with a vegetable fritter, red onion jam, guacamole, goat’s cheese, semi-dried tomatoes and lettuce. For those inclined to indulge in something a little heavier, the Marrakesh is worth a gander, with its Morrocan lamb patty, roasted capsicums, tzatziki sauce, sweet potato chips and crisp fresh lettuce. A great night to try all this is Wednesday, when trivia gets going, and on weekends the club fires up upstairs with all the classics to get your groove on. The Hotel even has its own farmers markets in the car park each Saturday morning, followed by a cooked breakfast in the beer garden from 8am to 10am.
